Tyke - bitten by a rattlesnake

Tyke is a yorkshire terrier who is owned by Judy Chisholm.  He was bitten by a baby rattlesnake in Arizona on the 14 September 2008.  Tyke is one of the lucky ones; he survived due to the care he received from his veterinarian.  Judy has shared pictures of  Tyke and the damage that was caused by the rattlesnake venom.

Tyke was bitten by a baby rattlesnake in the mouth and throat area.  Tyke's tongue turned almost completely black and the neck and throat area turned black and purple.  This is a picture of Tyke two days after he was bitten.

One week after Tyke's snake bite, you can see the color is lightening and turning a red/pink color.

This is a picture of Tyke two weeks after being bitten by a rattlesnake.  The color on his chest/throat area continues to lighten up and will eventually return to the normal pink color.  Tyke's tongue has also turned back to pink.  His veterinarian says that Tyke will have no residual after effects from the rattlesnake bite.

This is a picture of Tyke three weeks after the rattlesnake bite.  The skin continues to turn pink although there is still some discoloration.
